Bring Some CreativiTea to your Drinks

The easiest way to bring some unique flavors into your drink recipes is by using a tea infused simple syrup. Of course, you can also just add straight tea, but often the flavor just isn’t strong enough to come through or the tea waters down the drink too much.

However, with simple syrups, the tea flavors are concentrated so they can really pack a punch. And since most cocktail recipes call for simple syrup, it is easy to swap it out for any number of tea infused creations.

What Type of Tea to Use

The possibilities are basically endless. Here are some of the favorites that we have tried:

Happy Thoughts: green tea with spiced almonds, tangerine, and coconut

Beauty Sleep: herbal blend with chamomile, rose, mint, and butterfly pea blossoms, brews a dark blue

Duchess: white tea with lavender and vanilla

Glitz & Glitter: black tea with cranberry, pomegranate, and it sparkles with a gold shimmer

Chim Chim Cherry: white tea with vanilla, cherry, and hibiscus, brews red!

Tea Simple Syrup Recipe

1 cup Water

1 cups Sugar

3 heaping tsp of tea leaves (loose or in a t-sac)

If using a tsac, tie the end in a knot to avoid tea from spilling out. It can be a little tricky to do without tearing the filter, just pull very softly and slowly. The knot doesn’t have to be very tight.

  1. Bring the water to a boil
  2. Stir in the sugar and reduce heat to medium
  3. Add in your tea leaves (loose or in a t-sac) and simmer for about 5-10 minutes stirring occasionally. You will want to use less time for lighter teas like green and white and longer time for herbal teas.
  4. Remove the tea leaves and cool completely
  5. Store in a jar or easy squeeze bottle in the fridge

Will keep for up to two weeks

If you prefer to use the tea leaves loose in the pot, just simply strain after you remove from heat. While we usually use the tea bag method, the loose method is nice for larger or fluffy herbal tea that may need more space to move around. A perfect example of this is our Beauty Sleep tea pictured below.

When storing the simple syrups, try to find a glass jar that is easy to pour from or use a squeeze bottle for easy cocktail assembly.
